Westwood Insurance Agency, one of the largest independent personal lines insurance agencies in the United States, reached $500 million in annualized written premium this year. This is a significant achievement for the agency, just as it’s about to celebrate its 70th anniversary later this year.

President Alan Umaly said, “We’re proud to have reached this milestone. We all recognize that we could have never achieved this without our builder and lender clients and our policyholders who have trusted us to help them find the best policies and manage their insurance needs.”

Westwood, founded in 1952, is a full-service agency offering home, auto, flood, umbrella, and many other products to insure residences, vehicles, and small businesses and provide additional liability coverage.  The agency has been focused on growth since its founding.

In the last decade, that growth has been especially pronounced, with Westwood now working with 14 of the top 20 builders, covering more than 50% of new homes built in the US, and offering more insurance markets throughout the country. As of June 2022, Westwood has nearly 460,000 total policies in force.

As Westwood looks to the future, the agency is clearly poised for continued growth. “We’re excited about the future,” said Umaly. “We have big goals, and we plan to continue innovating new ways to improve the way insurance is done, both for our builder and lender clients and for the policyholders we serve. I can’t wait to see what we’ll accomplish in the future.”
