Westwood is proud to support HomeAid in its fight to end homelessness through housing, outreach, and advocacy.

HomeAid is a leading national nonprofit provider of housing and resources for people experiencing homelessness. Their belief that everyone deserves the safety and comfort of home is shared by Westwood, and so far this year Westwood and its employees have already donated more than $25,000 to HomeAid.

HomeAid has provided housing for more than 400,000 individuals who would have otherwise been homeless due to circumstances beyond their control, including abused children, victims of domestic violence, at-risk teens, returning military veterans, those who are temporarily out of work, and victims of natural disasters and other catastrophes. People like Zayra.

Zayra was just 17, mother to a new baby girl, and living with extended family in an overcrowded apartment. She had dropped out of school and had no way to break the cycle of poverty. She wanted to provide a different life for herself and her daughter but needed support to get there. Zayra and her daughter, Alexa, found that support through HomeAid. Today they have a safe place to live. Zayra earned her GED, received parenting support classes, and is now self-sufficient.

“As an insurance agency dedicated to helping people protect what matters most, we know how important a home is,” said Alan Umaly, President of Westwood. “That’s why HomeAid’s mission resonates so much with all of us at Westwood. We’re proud and honored to support HomeAid and make a difference in the lives of so many.”

Individual donations matter! Did you know $25 provides a personal hygiene kit, $50 provides a basket full of household supplies for an individual or family, and $100 provides a family with a month worth of diapers for their baby? Learn more about HomeAid and how you can join their mission of building new lives for America’s homeless through housing and community outreach.
